So you think you wanna join the baseball team...

Baseball season is coming up fast. Diamond Ranch many other schools...has been holding tryouts. Boys are coming out of the woodwork!! Many of them are experienced players, and many of them are trying this sport for the first time. 40 boys...20 slots. This is going to be tough to decide. I certainly don't envy the coaches.

Excitement is in the air, the pop flies are PoPPinG, and you can see the SmileS going on for miles... Keep watching for all the baseball updates. It's going to be a great season!

Relaxing at Yellow Camp

The students that work on the kitchen crew work hard to keep everything clean and running smoothly. Working in the kitchen requires a sacrifice of their personal time in the dorms. For all the hard work and sacrifices made, Brigham and Travis did a benefit to reward the kitchen crew for their efforts. The 18 year olds recently remodeled "Yellow Camp" making it a nice area to have a campfire and relax. The kitchen crew went down to Yellow Camp for their first time. The boys cooked their own Bratwursts over the fire, and had chips and soda as well. Brigham and Travis spoke to the boys about time management, prioritizing, and taking time as needed for themselves. The boys participated and had a really good discussion. After the discussion, everyone sat around talking and enjoying each others company while a few of the boys played the guitar and sang. All the boys had a good time and are looking forward to future activities at Yellow Camp!

Grilling....cuz that's what guys do!

SO we've been very fortunate the past few days with the weather we are having. Its currently almost 60 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Derek (one of our kitchen staff) decided to let a few of the kitchen assistants try out their "BBQ'n skills" and brought out the outdoor grill to barbeque some hot dogs. The boys were having a good time and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Grilled to perfection!
Dylan's keeping a weathered eye to see if Mike's as good at BBQ'ing as he says :)

Giving Back

The mentors decided to do a benefit for the students on their perspective campuses. They decided to do a movie and donuts to show the students how much they care about their success.
The mentors volunteered to pay for the donuts with their own ledger money. We were excited to see that they were willing to sacrifice something of their own for others. The students loved the movie and donuts and were very grateful that the mentors would do something like this for them.
